There are so many ways to get inspiration for abstract paintings–from emotions, feelings, recollections, people or places you’ve seen. In this video you will start with pen-and-wash and then oil sketches to investigate shapes and possibilities, to capture whatever it is that attracts you to your subject. These initial sketches help reinforce your ideas about the abstract composition. Then move onto a larger canvas to complete a finished abstract painting step by step, using acrylics and some oil pastel with focus on texture, color, shape and composition for a dramatic final piece.
